born 8 February 1928 in Belzoni (Mississippi, USA), died 13 December 2012. One of the few Detroit bluesmen to step to the forefront. He teamed up with John Lee Hooker as from 1948 and worked as a mechanic during the day and musician at night (harpist and guitarist). His younger brother is soul-electric blues musician Jimmy Burns.
