Edel is Patrick's Irish meaning name "noble" translated into Dutch Born in South Africa, Kwazulu Natal; Bergville to a music groomed family, Edel first music experience hit at the age 14. Apart from listening to gospel playlists, Edels first listen was Garage Music. As the curve grew, first ever purchase was Marshall Jefferson Salt City Package. With a mother full of passion, Edels first vinyl inherit was Tracey Chapmans Elektra 12" 33rpm. At a later stage around 2005 Edel was introduced to Afro/Tribal Music. The likes of Caseria Evora, Osunladé became a regular thump in the house hold. By the age of 16 Edel was confident to get partime jobs on weekends and eventually inheriting a Pioneer PL - 11 Stereo Turntable with twin speakers, the experience lead on to a sick habit of collecting rare music. By the age of 17, Edel was a proud owner of 25 12" Vinyl and 17 7" Vinyl, 144 cassettes and 5 CD's. Moving to Johannesburg, Edel became familiar with the streets of Jo'burg and to date, he claims his best purchase is Fat Freddy's Drop Flashbacks 12" and KB's El Musica 12" by Yorubas' very own Osunladé. During his residence in Gauteng, Edel completed high school and also were he completed Diploma Studies in Network Engineering and later on Sound Engineering. Partime jobs landed enough cash to buy a Pentium III computer and a FL Studio 6 package, landing the shabby role of a producer. Late 2009 Edel migrated to Japan where he stayed until 2011 then moved to Bielefeld Germany until 2013. 2013 saw Edel moving back to South Africa, completing studies in Civil Engineering and Graphic Designing. Upon production, Edel first release was through Soundcloud, a quiet loud and "shabby" release, though wasn't quiet as "exposed" as the lad thought it would be, managed to score 2500 plays upon first week, landing him a signing deal with then Kenya's Moso Music through AfrodesiaMP3 and the beginning of crafting a professional brand landing the name KidSoul Deep. On AfrodesiaMP3 as KidSoul Deep, he managed to release 54 guest releases on Moso Music and featured on Genesis88 and Joonya T Radio Podcast Show. In 2012 he visited Nigeria, meeting up with Nkiru Nene Agbodike who became a sole inspiration and working close with an artist from South Africa, Volume Down Entertainment - Ayanda M. He mastered and approved a track by Ayanda M which became a big successful hit in Philadelphia : Jawo Panama scoring credits in arrangements, engineering and Cod Layouts. After the closure of AfrodesiaMP3 Edel focused on overseas labels and scoring guest deals, making it a distribution habit. Upon 2015 Edel took guitar classes and enhancing his production, from 2014 till then, inspiration was quiet odd, a more hip hip orientated influences by Kev Brown, J. Dilla and neo soul signature emerged. In 2015 Edel took a visit to Tanzania and Sierra Leone where he claims his music perspective changed...the lad focused more on art and less on profile branding. The decision of contributing to underground music was inspired by the reminisce of Japans lifestyle and art and the trip to Africa, staying intact with his roots. As of 2016 Edel has been accredited to 16 releases globally as an Engineer and accredited to over 350 artworks for labels and artists globally. He's the owner and founder of Why Did You Graphics, a graphic designing independent company focused on artworks, illustrations and web designing. I was really out of energy to type.. Where ever you are...if your music is art and pure energy, you are my inspiration.." He was raised in a methodist then Christian home but according to him, he's nowhere close to being religious but rather spiritual. He believes in nature and considers himself a philanthropist, humanitarian, spiritualist and a crazy lunatic. He's fluent in 6 languages and has a bad memory...as apart from remembering when last he shaved his bearded face and combed his hair....any guy around with uncombed scruffy hair is enough to match his appearance. In 2016 he opened his online radio podcast show Himawari Radio. He practices Yoga and follows some of Buddhism teachings. When it comes to God related matters, Edel bluntly puts its aside and with a pale face slowly says "I believe higher power exists. Pure energy is what we require to push but faith and discipline are pure mental". When asked about his dream in music or vision, Edel immaculately puts it "I've ad the privilege to study and read alot of books, travel, that was a dream... I do not have dreams because they become accomplished and fade. I live and put my effort to something everlasting and life changing. So what brings me here? Simply because I believe in art and have less desires to be known or popular. I'm comfortable in being a dying shade to the world. But my music will bring that lil change somewhere in the world" Besides music, Edel is involved in charity organizations around Africa which focus on child illiteracy, drug abuse and hiv/aids awareness campaign. In 2016 he became an ambassador for a NPO in South Africa against Breast Cancer. He is a proud father on 1 and studying Projects Management until further notice...but most of all, his passion for music is his way of connecting with nature and humanity.
