Romanian composer, conductor, pianist with hebrew origins ✰ 1925 București, România ✞ 2006, Paris, France Brother of conductor Teodor Cosma and uncle of well known composer Vladimir Cosma From his childhood lived in a musical climate. His mother was pianist, pupil of Ferruccio Busoni. At the age of 5 started to learn piano from his mother and at 6 attempted to compose. Studied at the Bucharest Conservatory (National University of Music Bucharest) studying conducting with Constantin Silvestri 1951 - 1959 conductor of the Romanian Cinema Orchestra 1960 - Emigrated to France, settled in Paris, becoming a French citizen in 1966 1962 - Helped his brother Teodor Cosma with his family to emigrate in France His first success was with Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra 1969 - 1974 After some years of guest conducting, was appointed as Principal Conductor for Ulster Orchestra in autumn 1969 1973 - 1975 Was appointed conductor of l'Orchestre de Nord-Picardie à Lille Had many conducting engagements in Belgium, Great Britain, Scandinavia and other countries
