Artist Portrait

Edmundo Carneiro

perc, FR, Brazil
Musician of Rock

Edmundo Carneiro started his career as a percussionist in his native country, Brazil. In 1988, he relocated to France where, for the next five years, he worked with French singer Jacques Higelin. He was also involved in groups such as Bachibouzak, Grupo Extra, Kamafra and Guenau. He soon renewed ties with his homeland by working with Brazilian artists such as the singer/pianist Tania Maria, the singer Mônica Passos, guitarists Rosinha De Valenca and Baden Powell, Seu Jorge (singer) and trombone player Raoul de Souza. He also began to work with french artists such as Arthur H, Axel Bauer and Eli Medeiros to name but a few. He first became acquainted with electronic music when he met the group Ollano. He then went onto collaborate with a variety of famous DJ's: Next Evidence, Bob Sinclar, Shazz, Charles Schillings, Ariel Wizman, Stéphane Pompougnac, DJ Gregory and St Germain. In 2004, Edmundo Carneiro met Jean Leccia, the manager of Montera Music record label, with whom he began to work a year later. In 2005, he participated on the second part of the "Electronic Summer in Corsica" album, where electronic and acoustic music are mixed with the voices of corsican singers, an album where Edmundo Carneiro adds his warm percussion tones.
