Edward Hicks (1780 - 1849) was an American self-taught folk painter and a distinguished minister of the Society of Friends (known as the Quakers). His most well-known works were on Biblical themes, and include Noah's Ark and a series of paintings inspired by the idea of the Peaceable Kingdom.
