perc,
Musician of Latin and Jazz
A.k.a. Ángel Sánchez González

Ángel Sánchez González, Cepillo (Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz). Percussionist. Sanlúcar-born percussionist Ángel Sánchez, known in the music world as Cepillo, has shared his rhythms from a very young age with flamenco soloists and groups as well as those of rock, jazz fusion and Brazilian music. What was pure enthusiasm at the beginning soon became a profession. The son of Andalusian emigrants has a vast curriculum highlighted by his numerous performances throughout Spain, ending up in the main shows and festivals of capitals such as Madrid, Seville, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia. His performances stand out in Madrid's Veranos de la Villa series with Manolo Sanlúcar, at the Fine Arts Theater of Madrid with Duquende and at Seville's 2000 Bienal with Tomatito and Moraíto Chico. Nor is the rest of the globe alien to him, since he has played in cities of all latitudes such as Paris, Rome, London, New York, Tokyo, Havana, Helsinki... Noteworthy, the jazz festival in Montreux (Switzerland) and the Grenoble festival (France) with Gerardo Núñez. He attended these gatherings accompanying, collaborating, recording and teaching courses with figures such as Gerardo Núñez, Manolo Sanlúcar, Tomatito, Duquende, Carmen Cortés, Carmen Linares, Rafael Riqueni, Esperanza Fernández, Vicente Amigo, Isidro Muñoz, José Miguel Évora, José Antonio Galicia, Javier Barón, La Tobala, Pedro Sierra, Tino di Geraldo, Perico Sambeat, Michael Brecker, Renaud García Fons, Zaekir Hussain. He has even joined stable situations with some of them in groups like the Gerardo Núñez Trio, which seconded cantaora Carmen Linares in 2002 on her album ‘Un ramito de locura’. He has also taken part in the group Jazzpaña, together with Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo and Chano Domínguez; as well as in the recording of songs by groups, cantaores such as Enrique el Extremeño and group projects like ‘Gerardo Núñez presents. The New School of Flamenco Guitar’.
