A.k.a. Robert Anthony Rodriguez Robert Rodriguez
The man behind El Mariachi is Robert Rodriguez, popular filmmaker. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, USA, he was revealed with his first epic movie "El Mariachi" (1992), which made it's way to the Sundance film festival. He would later direct "Desperado" (1995), an American remake of "El Mariachi", starring Antonio Banderas in the lead role. Subsequent movies such as "From Dusk Till Dawn" (1996), The Faculty (1998), The Spy Kids Trilogy (2001-2003), and Sin City (2005) raised him as one of Hollywood's most promising young directors. On the musical side, Robert Rodriguez is known for his track "Desperado", often confused with Gusto's "Disco's Revenge" based on the same sample ("Groovin' You" by Harvey Mason). Other people involved in the project were DJ Disciple, Roger Sanchez and Simon D.
