A French combo, but one with a very global groove -- a mix of funky styles and Cuban rhythms, served up with a few contemporary touches as well! The sound here is really unique -- sweetly jazzy one minute, and sharper-edged the next -- moving the groove from keyboard-driven funk to more acoustic numbers that draw on an older Latin heritage, with a bit of a Congolese twist -- all wrapped up with a fresh, enthusiastic sound that really sets the group apart. The percussion's especially nice -- and really gives the album a solid, earthy grounding -- and apart from the first track, which has a bit of a hip hop vibe, most of the numbers here feel like lost grooves from both the Cuban and Congo scene of the 70s.
