Name Electo Silva Gaínza Birth November 1, 1928 Santiago de Cuba, Cuba Death May 30, 2017. Santiago de Cuba, Cuba Cuban nationality Cuban Citizenship Occupation Composer, arranger and conductor. He was a prestigious pedagogue, arranger and director since 1960 of the Orfeón Santiago and the University Choir. Considered the Dean of choral music in the Greater Antilles with a broad work not only as founder and director of choral groups, but as a composer and researcher. His pedagogical and jury work transcended the borders of the Cuban archipelago to become notable in several nations of America and Europe.
