Ghanaian singer. Tagoe Sisters, one of Ghana’s all time favourite gospels duos, will be marking 30 years of blessing the nation with good music in a concert at the Accra International Conference Centre on Sunday, November 20. The duo (Lydia Dedei Yawson and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe) is organising the concert to climax activities to mark three decades in an industry they have equally helped to shape. The Tagoe Sisters started commercial music around 1979 but made a formal entry onto the Ghanaian music scene in 1988 in London when they released their maiden album, Nyame Ye Kese. That album was recorded with the support of Evangelist Rev. Francis Amoako in collaboration with musicians such as Bessa Simons and Alfred Bannerman. They have grown from strength to strength since then, releasing several hit albums and songs notable among Yesu Be Ye Ama Wo and Manya Yesu in 1994, Anka Matete in 1996, Watua Maka in 2000 and Eto Betwa in 2006. The concert which is expected to highlight a fruitful career will also be headlined by other seasoned musical acts from different generations of Ghanaian music – the old and the new. They will be joined by the legendary Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Rev. Yawson, Jewel Ackah, Mary Ghansah, Amy Newman, Akosua Agyapong, Stella Seal, Nii Okai, Bernice of Jane and Bernice fame, DSP Kofi Sarpong and Gifty Osei.
