A.k.a. J. Elmo Fagg
J. Elmo Fagg (b. Jun. 28, 1919, d. Feb. 3, 1981), was a Christian gospel vocalist, first with the Lone Star Quartet, along with Jack Taylor. Not long after Blue Ridge Quartet was formed, both Elmo Fagg and Jack Taylor joined The Blue Ridge Quartet. Fagg lead The Blue Ridge Quartet for about 20 years. When Elmo Fagg retired in 1968, he was replaced by Laverne Tripp. Prior to his career in Christian gospel music, Elmo Fagg was a Corporal in the US Army during World War II. J. Elmo Fagg is buried in Laws Chapel Cemetery, Blount County, Tennessee, USA. As a side note, Elmo Fagg's name is mentioned on the album Dead Letter Office in the song "Voice of Harold," which is set to the music of the song "Seven Chinese Brothers," but contains 'lyric' consisting of Michael Stipe reading the liner notes of the back cover of the album The Joy Of Knowing Jesus.
