Jazz
Emi Oshima was born in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to Japanese parents and grew up moving from country to country, mostly Francophone countries such as Morocco, Canada, Switzerland and Senegal, as well as Japan. Her musical education began at the age of 9 with the violin she studied with different teachers and at the National Conservatory of Geneva. She discovered jazz, saxophone and singing, while still a student of economics and political science at a Japanese university. In 1992, she moved to Paris. In 1995, she created her own trio with which she won the 1st Prize at the Jazz Festival in Montmartre in 1997. The same year the trio expands to a quartet and continues to perform in jazz clubs in Paris, province and Belgium. In 2001, she joined the female vocal group « Etat Dame ». She teaches singing since 2000 in the Paris region at the CIM, at the EDIM and, until 2005, at the Bill Evans Piano Academy.
