English novelist and poet (born 30 July 1818, Thornton, West Riding of Yorkshire, England – died 19 December 1848, Haworth, West Riding of Yorkshire, England). Best remembered for her only novel, Wuthering Heights, now considered a classic of English literature. She was the third eldest of the four surviving Brontë siblings: older sister Charlotte, brother Branwell and younger sister Anne.
