A.k.a. Emmavie Mbongo
From serenading Hip Hop cuts with luscious vocals to going to crafting soulful beats, Emmavie Mbongo – known simply as Emmavie – a name which is set to emerge amongst the list of future stars from the UK. The singer, songwriter and producer’s credits have spawned across a number of emerging UK artists’ work over the last few years, her sensual harmonies evoking the spirit of vintage ’90s RnB and Soul as she produces seamless stirring choruses and bridges with a close-knit team of rappers, singers and producers. At the top of 2013, prior to the release of her debut EP, Emmavie released a short song entitled “Seamless”. Though it was only a minute and a half long, it was picked up by a number of DJs, including BBC Radio 6’s, Gilles Peterson; who played it on his Worldwide show and introduced the world to Emmavie. Shortly after the release of “Seamless”, Emmavie unveiled her much awaited project, “L+VEHATER”, in which she fuses electronica, RnB, Hip Hop and Soul to help aid her conceptual project that tells the story of a fictional character caught up in an emotional, complex and fractured battle over love and more. A remarkable and daring first outing, Emmavie’s luscious vocals once again take centre stage, rising magnificently over the engulfing productions which she herself crafted. The project received plenty of accolade, being featured by MTV Wrap UK, SBTV, Link UP TV and more.. In February, 2014, Emmavie and producer friend, Alfa Mist teamed up to provide a quality project for our listening pleasure, blending nostalgic qualities referencing the “neo soul” movement of the early 2000′s with the talented young London’s duo’s fresh, hungry energy on their 7-track Epoch EP. Their EP was featured and supported by online media outlets such as SoulCulture, OkayPlayer and many more..
