Since leaving his homeland France in 1984, he has travelled and lived in Morocco, India and the USA, eventually taking roots in Australia. First found fame in 1996 when he won a national competition on (non-commercial) youth radio - Triple J's Unearthed Competition - discovering unsigned artists.
