Band, US, Seattle
Rock and Jazz
Started as one of a post-rock/noise rock indie bands in vein of Slint, later their relationship with Slint has been transformed to influence rather than impersonation. With the last album Engine Kid seems to have discovered jazz and their sound became completely unique and original. Formed in the early '90s in Seattle, WA, the band originally consisted of bassist Brian Kraft, drummer Chris Vandebrooke, and guitarist/vocalist Greg Anderson. Vandebrooke would eventually vacate the drum stool and was replaced by Jade Devitt. Also Art Behrman played bass on their first 7-inch. After releasing two longplays, six EPs and splits, numerous appearances on various compilations, Engine Kid disbanded in 1997
