The vocal ensemble Gemma specializes on Gregorian chant from medieval Scandinavian sources but also perform church music from the earliest Western polyphonic repertoire from the 12th and 13th centuries. The repertoire is mostly based on the ensemble’s own research in archives and libraries and presents music that often not hasn't been heard since the Middle Ages. Ensemble Gemma is a loosely based co-operation working with different singers depending on the program of the concerts and where the concert takes place. The participating singers are all educated and active on the early-music stage. The singers have all specialized in early music through their studies in France, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. They also work with other early music ensembles such as Diabolus in Musica, Dialogos, Musica Ficta, Laude Novella and have performed in numerous Europeian countries. The ensemble also collaborates with museums in order to illustrate exhibitions and create soundscapes. Their music can be heard at the exhibitions Sveriges historia (History of Sweden) at the National Historical Museum in Stockholm and Kata Gård, Varnhem http://vastergotlandsmuseum.se/kata-gard-varnhem/.
