Artist Portrait

Equinox

Band, PO

Polish death metal band formed in February 1991 in Sztum by former Whisper guitarist Arkadiusz Furdal and bassist/lead vocalist Piotr Czerniak. Czerniak suggested the band-name. In August 1992, the band entered the Modern Sound Studios in Gdynia – their friend drummer Romuald Czyczyn from Armagedon joined them in the recording session. Czerniak himself and Sztumiński Ośrodek Kultry (Sztumin's Center of Culture) produced the demo, entitled Unspeakable Words. The recording was released through Bidel Records, a pseudo-label created by the musicians themselves. Equinox played melodic death metal. Shortly afterwards, second guitarist Marcin Dondalski was added. In 1993, the group appeared at the S'thrash'ydle festival, invited by Gregory Fijałkowski from Kassandra Promotion. Then Krzysztof Zalewski replaced Dondalski. With a new line-up, Equinox entered the Modern Sound Studios again to record new songs – 4 tracks came out of the recording, included in a second demo entitled Lost Dimension.
