Album US 1995 on Arf! Arf! label
(Contemporary)
The Well-Tempered Music Library is a 7-CD set (not vinyl) that contains 427 music selections and released in 1995. This was never commercially available and originally retailed for $300 which included all rights for licensing. The product was exclusively sold to producers, advertising agencies, and recording studios with the sole purpose of providing inexpensive, royalty-free background music for commercials, industrial films, multi-media projects, etc. As with most stock music libraries, these were pressed in a very limited edition and not sold in stores. This purchase is for one set of 7 unplayed sealed CDs with booklets/tray cards that includes all seven volumes: Volume 1 - Commercial Music (70 tracks) Volume 2 - Classical Music (63 tracks) Volume 3 - Character Music (58 tracks) Volume 4 - Human Tech #1 (57 tracks) Volume 5 - Human Tech #2 (76 tracks) Volume 6 - Extended Beds (18 tracks) Volume 7 - Alternate Mixes & Versions (85 tracks) The majority of this music was produced in the 1980s and is a diverse collection of compositions that range from rock, pop, corporate, electronic, acoustic, jazz, ragtime, etc. Fans of vintage electronic music will really enjoy this eclectic collection of quirky pieces that incorporate analog synthesizers (pre-MIDI) and primitive drum machines. All of the music was composed and produced by Boston area musician Erik Lindgren who was a founding member of the new music ensemble Birdsongs of the Mesozoic. Lindgren was also the creative force behind the indy art punk band Space Negros, who released a half-dozen vinyl releases circa 1979-1990 along with the "Maximum Contrast From Moment To Moment" 7-inch EP (which was essentially the pre-Mission of Burma/Birdsongs band Moving Parts under a pseudonym). Included here is a scan of one of the tray cards and inside of a booklet (Volume 1), along with an overview of the full 7-CD set.
