Single DE 2009 on Treat label

Pianoman ERK presents his second 7” vinyl single “Overqualified” six years after his debut 7” double A-side single “A Girl Named Boo” / “Shout” and three years after the Japanese release of the corresponding debut album “Far From The World”. What took him so long to come back now with another 7” release? Good things come to those who wait! “Overqualified” is only a first glimpse of ERK’s newest album “Tidbits”, which is bound to follow the release of the single. A musical journey through the past 50 years and yet it combines all the brilliant song-writing features of His “Erkness”. Effectively catchy tunes, international and unique in their simplicity. Classy pop, exceedingly different in today’s pop music world! Once again ERK shows his great skills to find ageless melodies and irresistible grooves. The A – side “Overqualified” is a mind boggling indie piano pop song with a great touch of pythonesque humor! In times of the financial crisis one might find more truth to the lyrics than he is willing to admit. Sticking to the piano pop tradition of a Ben Folds, Elton John or Billy Joel. Do Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Johnny and the Hurricanes and Sergio Mendez fit on one sandwich? The answer is: yes, it’s tasty and well audible on the B – side. The instrumental “More Than Honeymelon” is a brilliant foretaste of the diversity of the upcoming album. A jazzy style piano and a crazy saxophone that proves why in a pre- electric guitar era, saxophone music was the equivalent to today’s hard rock! The song’s groove will make it the favourite single side of every respectable club DJ. Every song a classic!
