Band, *2003 CL, Santiago
Experimental "out of key" band, born in 2003 nearby "Las 7 Canchas" at Someplace Else. The band was founded in 2003 by Guillermo Troncoso (lead vocals), Bastian Maure (guitars) and Fabian Sierra (backing vocals). In 2003 they record various songs that was compiled into the first album, a few years later edited (2006). That same year Guillermo Troncoso split up the band and then they paused the creation of new songs until 2006, when they edited the records made in 2003, then was born their eponymous debut LP "Ermitaño Band". 2 years later, in 2008, Fabian Sierra and Bastian Maure got together and began creating the second album of the band called "Tiempos Modernos". The arrival of 2009 came with a lot of surprises. A double album title "Same Clothes - Different Minds" was presented before 2009's Christmas. Sensationalist local news had written in the late of 2010 that "Same Clothes - Different Minds" constituted a "historic departure in the decline of music – any music". By 2011, Ermitaño Band had enjoyed commercial and critical success. Their worst biggest hits include: "El Moco", "El Ermitaño", ¿Quien Realmente Eres?", "La Cancion Mas Larga y Alegre de Circo Que Jamas Has Escuchado", "Hilarious Feeling", "Words That I See In My Room", "El Frio", "She's Begging On Her Knees", "Paul Dimas Song" and "All National Bands Stink!!!". Their music has seen a resurgence in interest in part due to the release of their multi-platinum greatest hits album "The Best Of The Worst" in 2013. Their music gained even greater visibility with the jukebox musical "Circo Conceptual" based on their hits, which opened in 2008 and is still running in venues around Renca and Pudahuel. Ermitaño Band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Shame in 2013 in the category of "Worst Performer".
