Ernesto Karolys is an artist of attentive ear, an individual tuned to what happens in the middle, his medium, without prejudice to what is produced musically on a daily basis. He is one of the subjects that feels, above all, to listen and understand: he celebrates the mastery of jazz musicians such as John Coltrane or Miles Davis and recognizes the work that takes place in pop, with Beyoncé, for example. Karolys or Ruso, as they know him (he was born in Moscow in 1980, but grew up in Quito and now lives in New York), he played drums since he was 13 years old. He had a band with some friends (Agustín Báez and Lautaro Ojeda) from his school, with whom he participated in the Intercollegiate Song Festival. They passed the first round with a great score. But in the second, without being surprised, they were disqualified: one of its members, Lautaro, was from another school.
