A.k.a. Ernest Albert Henry
American jazz saxophonist. b. September 3, 1926 (Brooklyn, NY, USA) d. December 29, 1957 (New York City, NY, USA) Discovered by Tadd Dameron, he joined his band at the Famous Door on 52nd St. in 1947. Went on to work with Fats Navarro, Charlie Ventura, George Auld, Max Roach, Kenny Dorham, Dizzy Gillespie And His Orchestra ('48-49, '57), Illinois Jacquet ('50-51), and Thelonious Monk ('56-57). Died in his sleep the morning after playing with Gillespie at Birdland.
