Singer / Musician of R&B/Soul and Pop
A.k.a. Errol Barnes
Born in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica in 1939, Errol Barnes (Dixon is his professional name) first started singing in local night clubs, his material consisting of current standards and "blues" ballads. In 1957 came to Britain to study music but spent more time making records and singing in the London clubs. His recording of "Midnight Train" topped the charts in Jamaica for months and was a sizeable hit in England too. Since then Errol has recorded frequently, all too often recording material strictly for the commercial market. [liner notes from LK 4962, UK 1968]
