A.k.a. King Spears Starky (2) Wild Starkey
Musician, Engineer, Producer, Singer/Deejay born in Handsworth, Birmingham, England, 1961. AKA Errol "Spears" Ruddock, Errol "Starkey" Ruddock, Spears, Spear, King Spears, Wild Starkey, Tekle Hymanot... Son of Jamaican immigrants arrived in Britain in late 50s, he learnt to play Drums at the age of eight, taught by his brother, then he went on to play with a church band where he self-taught Bass and Rhythm guitar. After leaving the church he embraced Rastafari and soon joined sound systems Jah Youth, and Jah Nyah. Then he joined Reggae band Amahra (with lead singer Junior Roots), who acted as backing band for Sugar Minott on his first UK tour. His first recording session was with Sugar Minott and the Ahmara band in a four track studio in Erdington Birmingham, this is where he got his first taste of Studio recording, and knew he had natural ablity in this aspect of the music industry. In his Sound days adventure he met up with Irvin Woolley now known as Wooligan, who could build his own pre-amps and amplifiers, and had his own sound (Orthodox Sound System), they formed the Mindsearchers Studios & production outfit. He also formed a session band called Truths & Rights (2) Syndicate, and worked with Phillip Whittaker on the labels New Talents & Silicon Squad (Silicon Squad Studios). In late 90s he worked on the Humal Records productions, and nowadays on Roots Awakening with the alias King Spears.
