Album 1995 on Decca label
Classical (Opera, Modern)
On back cover: Flammen is an ambitious surrealistic treatment of the classic Don Juan story by one of the most innovative personalities of the 1920s avant-garde. Composed in the late twenties, it represents the ultramodern 'Zeitgeist' of the period. As well as incorporating jazz elements, Schulhoff's music encompasses the gamut of Expressionism and Impressionism. Flammen was revived sixty years after its premiere and carefully restored for this world-premiere recording.
