British musician Esa Shields has always lived in Liverpool. During the production of his album Ovum Caper, he retreated among other artists in a semi haunted Victorian house. Within its carmine red walls were broken clocks, which prevented time from passing normally for its inhabitants, who mostly lived at night. Like a dislocated elegant swaying dance, Esa's music builds up with a mix of joyful, dark and sweetly perverse components. Transformation and magic are the striking features of his sound. His compositions are often unpredictable in their course; they start as "straight" pop songs and slowly turn into something experimental, dark and outlandish implying a strong sense of escaping.
