Essence Of Aura were formed in Coventry in the early 1990's. One of the UK's first Drum & Bass producers cutting up breaks and playing them out at raves even before releasing vinyl. They performed at many raves between 1990 and 1995, including Amnesia House, Quest, The Eclipse, The Edge, Fibre-optic, New Age and Pandemonium. They were named as the Midlands number 1 live PA by Pandemonium. Jumping Jack Frost pointed them out in Muzik Magazines 10 years of Acid House article, along with Carl Cox as the most important Jungle artists of 1994. They also featured MC Hi-Fi who was resident MC at the famous Edge club in Coventry. Essence Of Aura held parties including the first ever party in Kenilworth in January 1991 under the name Insomnia and featured DJ Ratty, DJ Pepsi and gave DJ Fallout of Tango & Fallout fame her debut gig. They were regulars at the Eclipse and The Edge in Coventry, were an active part of the rave scene in Coventry's hey day and pioneers of early forms of the Drum & Bass movement. They disbanded in 1996.
