A native of Calgary, Alberta, Estelle Choi began her musical studies at the age of five under the tutelage of John Kadz. She went on to study with Aldo Parisot at the Yale School of Music and Ronald Leonard at the Colburn Conservatory of Music. Her awards as a soloist include first prizes in the Canadian Music Competition, the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, and the Calgary Concerto Competition. She has performed with renowned artist including John Perry, Paul Coletti, Joshua Bell, eighth blackbird, and members of the Tokyo and St. Lawrence String Quartets. Estelle has participated in Morningside Music Bridge, Banff Centre for the Arts Summer Residencies, McGill International String Quartet Academy, Great Mountain Music Festival in Korea, Pacific Music Festival String Quartet Course in Japan, National Arts Centre’s Young Artist Program, Yellow Barn, and Aspen Music Festival’s Center for Advanced Quartet Studies. In 2014, Estelle joined the faculty of Stony Brook University as Visiting Assistant Professor. She holds a Master’s degree from Yale and an undergraduate degree and Artist Diploma from the Colburn Conservatory of Music.
