Melodic death metal band from Veddige, Sweden, formed in 1989. One of numerous groups with a hand in establishing the very melodic style now known as the Gothenburg Sound, Eucharist didn't fare particularly well in the face of the era's stiff competition (At The Gates, In Flames, etc) resulting in personnel eventually joining rival bands. The band (formed in Veddige, a village near Gothenburg, Sweden in 1989) released their first demo in 1992. The same year a 7" featuring "Greeting Immortality" b/w "Into The Cosmic Sphere" from their demo was released on the Obscure Plasma label, both releases becoming underground classics. The release of the 7" was never authorized by the band. In 1993 the band recorded their debut album "A Velvet Creation" (1993), though within a year they had split again. 1997 saw another reformation (minus Thomas Einarsson) and another album ("Mirrorworlds") after the release of which Eucharist split up for a final time. Drummer Daniel Erlandsson, the brother of Adrian Erlandsson (former drummer of At The Gates and Cradle Of Filth), now plays in Arch Enemy.
