Cuban singer, composer and musician (1947 - 2010) Eugenio "Gene" Hernandez was born on December 10th, 1947 in Santa Clara, Cuba. He arrived in New York City in 1961 after the Cuban revolution of 1959. Hernzndez became part of the Latin musical scene in New York City. He joined Típica Novel and later Orquesta Broadway. His style and voice led him to become an exclusive artist for Fania Records, where he recorded many LP’s with Orquesta Novedades. He continued his musical career and became known as a vocalist and soloist, and performed with Charanga 76.
