Dance and Electronic
Evidence is an American collaborative electronic music duo, created by Stephan Moore (2) and Scott Smallwood in 2001 and based in Chicago, IL. Over the years, two artists had developed a distinctive style of deeply layered improvisational ambient, described as jars tracks, and based primarily on processing field recordings of natural and industrial sounds. Evidence activities range from studio compositions and live improvisations to sound installations, street performances and theater projects, as well as numerous collaborations with other musicians, choreographers, and video artists. Both students of Curtis Bahn at RPI's iEar Studios, Smallwood and Moore produced a mail collaboration Rebahn – dedicated to their mentor, and based entirely on the samples from Bahn's debut solo album r!g. Rebahn was released on Smallwood's Wavelet Records CD-R label in 2001. They participated in several international events, such as Balance-Unbalance Conference in Colombia, and NIME (New Interfaces for Musical Expression) Conference in Australia, and appeared on stage at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in upstate New York and numerous other venues across the United States.
