Expelaires

Band,
Alternative, Electronic and Pop

First formed in 1978, this Leeds based bands nucleus consisted of Craig Adams, David Wolfenden (later of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and The Mission) and Grape (Grape (2), later of 3,000 Revs and Groovin' With Lucy). After supports to Echo & The Bunnymen and the The Teardrop Explodes they signed a one single deal for "about £400" with Zoo Records. The first single "To See You" was released in September 1979 and featured Grape (vocals), Wolfie (Guitar), Craig (Guitar/Keyboards), Mark Copson (bass) and Carl "Tich" Harper (Darren Carl Harper, drums). Their upcoming band status earned them an invitation to record a session for John Peel. The session comprised of 4 tracks "Nasty Media", "Its Alright Mother", "Frequency" and "The Dashboard (killed me)". A few months after this, also due to the limited success of the single, things started to go wrong: first, Copson quit, to be replaced by David Harper (later of Five Or Six) and Craig, too, left not long after the release of their second single "Sympathy" in January 1980. The song will appear in the compilation "Hicks From The Sticks" released the same year. Reformed in 2012 to play at F-Club 35th reunion & then decided to continue as a working unit. 2014 saw the release of the 1st recordings in over 30 years with the E.P "Sick Of Lies" Current plans are recording " The lost" punk album and continue to play live concerts. current line up is Paul "Grape" Gregory David "Wolfie" Wolfenden David Whitaker Gerry Famous Martin Aylward..
