Band,
Experimental Psychology or Ex.P. as they have become to be known as, is essentially Ben Summers (with Stephen Philips appearing occationally along with other assorted studio guests including Peter Bolander and Harold Raucous). Ex.P. was essentially THE project that founded Dark Duck Records, a group of friends getting together to create some crazy garage-band psychedelic noise rock. This project began as experimental psychedelic rock and electronic noodling (very much in the Tangerine Dream / Klaus Schulze vein) and has evolved through techno and ambient and settled into the straight aheah ambient spacemusic (more like Pete Namlook). Throughout the journey they have remained true to electronica and most of all, experimentalism. The "Cosmic Overture" series launched them into a new dimension, a focus on multiple part albums focusing on one concept. The first CD of *new* material from Ex.P. in almost 2 years was released in June 1999, a 2 CD set titled "Alien Worlds" and it takes us to some vast region of the cosmos and presents to us a stunning new world. Hot on the heals of Alien Worlds came "Jellyfish In Space." A dark ambient journey through some very thematic terratory. Truely a Ben Summers masterpiece. An "Alien Worlds 3" has been in the works for a few years but no official word on when this one will be available. Ben Summers has also worked on a few collaborations with Stephen Philips and they released a pair of CDs in 2000 titled "Beyond The Glaze" and "Behind The Mirror." Ben Summers has also had an active role in a few of the CDs in The X-Series and has a new solo CD out on the Dissonance Records label.
