Falafel Mafia

Band,
Alternative

Hailing from NYC, Falafel Mafia were an early 1990s Hardcore Punk outfit that could be found playing Lower East Side dives such as CBGB or King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. By 1993, the band's vocalist ("iron lung"), Heavy Duty (2) and guitarist ("chunky beef missile"), Head Gasket would sporadically do punk versions of film reviews on Jon Stewart (4)'s MTV talk show. The band's sole release, You Love Us!!, recorded in a pair of Electric Lady Studios sessions during early Spring 1995, was co-produced by Adam Yellin. Following the release of the album, the group disbanded after their vocalist headed to Hazelton, Minnesota for treatment of heroin and crack addiction.
