(piano) born: Paducah, Kv., 2 december 1890 died: St Louis, Mo., 16 january 1947 Started working on the Streckfus riverboats c. 1906, first solo, then with a growing group. Although he used numerous coloured jazz men from New Orleans and St Louis between the wars, his band had to play straight most of the time. Recorded in New Orleans, 1924 (from "Deeo South Piano" by Karl Gert zur Heide)
