Single UK 1979 on Shanghai Records label
Alternative (Noise, Post-Punk)
Housed in a plain white sleeve with photocopied artwork folded around and stapled to the sleeve by hand. This version includes a five line poem and illustration on the foldover: "a noise escaped from a guitar a distant voice pleaded for silence in a disused language" Although there was only one pressing of the record, subsequently distributed copies amended the artwork by blanking this out with a black rectangle. The later version also features a catalogue number, "No.1", on the reverse of the fold that is omitted on this version. According to 1992 article in Record Collector magazine there were 500 copies of the record pressed, the "first 100 or so" featuring the poem. A Japanese bootleg from 1990 is identifiable in having black, rather than yellow, labels on the disc.
