A.k.a. DJ Wondermike Get The Real Power Stereotype
German Eurodance project created in 1995. Band members are female vocalist Christina Safrani (who goes by the stage name of Viktoria) currently living in a small German village: Sattledorf; rapper Michael Williams AKA MC Flash (5); and producer Mike Wonder AKA DJ Wondermike who's credits include remixes for various artists including No Mercy. Back in 1995, the group released their first single on Beam Records entitled "Love Is Paradise". For some reasons, that track did not make much of a stir and for the most part left unknown. In January 1996 the song was released by BMG (Canada) on a CD compilation called Club Cutz Volume 7, instantly becoming a mega hit. This song was also nominated for the Best 1996 Song in First Annual Euro-Energy Cyberspace Awards. The success of this track proned BMG Canada to release it on another compilation called Groove Station 3. In the US, it was released on the RCA compilation Club Cutz 2. The success of "Love is Paradise" in Canada opened up a window for a second single in Canada. In late 96 BMG Music Canada released exclusively the bands second song "Heavenly". This track was another thumper and had a little bit more vocal in it than "Love Is Paradise". It didn't include any rap parts. It was never released as a single and appeared only on BMG Canada compilation Club Euro - Volume 3. The next track by First Base was released in April 1997 and appeared on the new Club Cutz Volume 8, yet another Canadian exclusive and was called "Can You Keep A Secret?". This track was released on 12" as limited edition for DJ's, but not to the general public as a single. The track and group were also nominated for the Best 1997 Song and Group in Second Annual Euro-Energy Cyberspace Awards with good results (4th place in both categories). This track also made to BMG Canada another compilation called: "Groove Station 4" as part of the megamix. In the summer of 1997, the group toured Canada as part of a BMG Canada event called "Groove Station Tour" to promote the compilation "Groove Station 4". The following year, also in Canada, they played 12 concerts, starting in Vancouver, followed by Victoria, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, Winnipeg & Thunderbay. In March 1999, promo vinyl of a new track called "Follow Me" was released. It appeared on BMG Music Canada and was targeted for Club DJ's . The CD single version of this track was scheduled for general release on April 16, 1999. This EP featured not only "Follow Me" but also all previous First Base hits like: "Love Is Paradise", "Heavenly" and "Can You Keep A Secret".
