Legendary Argentine Hardcore Punk band, led by Ricardo Espinosa. The band achieved cult status thanks to his particular lyrics and singing style. Espinosa later died in an accident, the band disbanded for the better part of the 2000s. It reformed in 2008. Originating in Buenos Aires, Avellaneda, it was founded in 1987 by Juan Fandiño, Fernando Cordera and two other friends who left the band as soon as it started. They then met Ricky Espinosa and Sebastián Corona. Together they'd release a series of demos and participate in the legendary Punk Rock compilation Invasión 88, attaining local notoriety. All members of the band sans Espinosa decided that was enough and left. Ricky was left alone and had to attend a nocturnal school due to parental pressure. There he met and befriended Santiago Rossi. Ricky wanted to keep the band alive so Santiago got his brother Fernando Rossi hooked on the bass while he played the guitar. Flema would go on to release two other cassettes, Pogo, Mosh y Slam and Nunca Nos Fuimos, scoring them city-wide notoriety and deals with local labels. Flema became a cult band in the local underground circuit until Ricky Espinosa, known for leading a chaotic lifestyle, fell off a building and died in late 2002. The band had just finished a new album and was about to release it. They set up a final concert in memory of their friend, which was released in the live album Y Aun Yo Te Recuerdo before disbanding. In 2007 the band gathered to celebrate 20 years of its founding, gathering a sizable amount of people. The renewed popularity led them to tour around the country and even internationally.
