Band, 1983-1986 GB, Sheffield
Electronic and R&B/Soul
British soul/pop band from Sheffield, signed to Virgin and active in the 1980s, had moderate success in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. After debut single "Answer Through Me", produced by Andy Hernandez, lead singer Elana Harris was replaced by Carroll Thompson for their first album (produced by Don Was) including three singles which made the UK charts. After 'Operator' only Michael Ward (3) remained to reshape Floy Joy as an all-male band along with Desny Campbell and Robert E. Clarke. After releasing another album before disbanding, Ward and Campbell evolved the group into Everyday People (5).
