Band,
Dance
It isn’t often that a band comes along that changes history. The Forces of Nature can’t claim to have been that band, but their music encapsulated a transitory period in electronic music: a pivotal moment at which music was surging forward in a wave of ever-faster junglist breaks and techno sounds, while simultaneously reaching back to the jazz of the 60s and the soul grooves of the 70s and 80s for inspiration Inspired by this musical maelstrom of ideas, Chalke LOM and Tony Reeves set about creating music that blurred these musical boundaries. Singles and albums followed, along with releases on LTJ Bukem’s Earth series and their own Tundra Records imprint. Collaborations also followed: Chalke with the loop-digging MC Mr. Morestyles and the deep-house groovehead K-Fish, whilst Tony embarked on an ambitious live electronic album with the band Prism.
