A.k.a. Darren Durham Darren Richard Durham
FortDax is the name chosen by one man, Darren Durham to his parents, who resides somewhere up in Bronte Country, England. Forting began a little over two years ago after the realisation that the 'perfect moment' to approach something can only be generated by yourself anyway. prior to this - 'the water-treading years'. The work released so far has been likened to, amongst others, Vangelis, My Bloody Valentine, Isan, Sigur Ros and Boards Of Canada, but Darren prefers to think of it as 'Michael Nyman trapped upside down in a clockwork palace during a snowstorm'. That gets close, but ideally FortDax is aiming at a crossroads-meeting between Charles Ives and Abba or His Name Is Alive and Whigfield. Somewhere perhaps undefinable but certainly heartfelt - the whole idea is to aim at providing tiny epiphanies. and if that sounds a little over-ambitious then so-be-it...the last thing that should ever be claimed is that what anyone is doing is 'only' music. Music is far too serious/playful to be taken so lightly...
