Francisco J. Dias

voc,
Singer of Alternative and Rock
A.k.a. Francisco Dias FJ Xico

Portuguese Metal/Hard Rock/Punk singer/songwriter since 1991. Currently living in the UK running Blood & Iron Records and fronting Dawnrider only. Francisco J. Dias started as an Hard Rock/Heavy Metal fan in the mid 80s embracing all classic bands of the era specially Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, AC/DC, WASP, Saxon, Metal Church, Helloween, etc. In the late 80s he was deeply into Speed/Thrash/Crossover (Voivod, Celtic Frost, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Agent Steel, Anthrax, Metallica, Onslaught, Bathory, Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., among others) and more traditional metal bands like Candlemass and Manilla Road. In the early 90s he started to be influenced heavily by the extreme Hardcore-Punk scene of the UK (Doom, E.N.T., etc., plus early 80s classics as Broken Bones and Discharge) and also by the U.S. early Hardcore scene (Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Black Flag, etc.) and formed his first band Subcaos in April 1991. After 1997 Subcaos were over (at least in the old century), he pursued other musical territories (Garage Rock/Psychedelia, 70s Hard Rock and the emerging Stoner Rock scene). He was in a few bands around these genres (like The No-Counts D.O.M. formed in 2000) and eventually back to Metal in the wake of the new millenium, later forming Dawnrider in the beginning of 2004. Apart from being a musician, he runs Blood and Iron Records since 2005 and ran a label called Sleazey Records back in 2002 until 2004, releasing different types of Hard Rock. Being a record enthusiast is also part of his life collecting mainly 70s + 80s Hard Rock and 80s Heavy Metal but also some old Punk/Hardcore. He is also a dedicated fan of 70s Progressive and Psychedelic Hard Rock and those influences could be noted in the Dawnrider albums "Two" and "The Third Crusade".
