Frank was born in Coonabarabran N.S.W on 6th March 1923 and grew up on his fathers farm, "Killarney", just out of Binnaway. His parents sent him to study music at the Binnaway Convent School when he showed extraordinary talent at a young age. His first professional music engagement was at age 13. Shortly after, in 1936, he formed the White Rose Orchestra with his brother Patrick and John Matherson playing banjo & mandolin, Andy Pono on Saxophone, and Frank himself playing piano. The White Rose Orchestra era ended with the death of Frank Bourke in 1989.
