1938-2009
A.k.a. Ivory Frank “Red” Carroll Sr.
Born April 10, 1938 in Denmark, Tennessee. Died May 29, 2009 in Beloit, Wisconsin. Frank came to Beloit in 1955. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1958 where he played baseball. After high school, Frank continued to play baseball in the minor leagues for the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs. His dream to play in the major leagues ended when he chipped the bones in both of his ankles during a minor league game. However, that didn’t stop him from going on to play and coach softball. Frank was named the “Homerun King” of The King of Diamonds Baseball Field in Beloit. He enjoyed singing for the Lord, and was one of the original members of The Skylark Gospel Singers. He was formally a member of New Life Ministries of Wisconsin for ten years before transitioning to the House of Refuge in Madison, WI to be by his daughters’ side in ministry, where he served as head deacon, chairman of the board, and father of the church. Ezell Keeton was his godson.
