"Frank Evans" was a pseudonym used by Vernon Dalhart on records issued on Challenge (2), Jewel (3), Oriole (3) and related Plaza Music Company-associated labels. In mid-1928, Dalhart signed a short-term exclusive contract with Columbia. At that time, Frank Luther (2) began using the pseudonym, usually with guitar accompaniment by Carson Robison. Luther is thought to have continued using the alias through the latter part of the 1920s. Since this alias was used by at least two extremely prolific recording artists in the 1920s-30s, efforts should be made to identify the correct artist performing on each release. Instances where the pseudonym "Frank Evans" can be traced to Frank Luther (2) should be referred to Frank Evans (9).
