Singer / Musician of Rock
Danish singer/keyboard player (19.05.1948 - 08.11.2016). There was a piano and lots of music in Frank Lauridsen's childhood home on the Danish island of Funen (Fyn), where his mother took him to see the city orchestra concerts and ordered him to take piano lessons. But when the teacher dismissed Frank's homemade alternatives to études, he continued to learn on his own. Frank matured, and the music world saw him as one of the few ‘white’ guys with a ‘black’ voice. Frank Lauridsen's career started as a 16-year-old in the band The Burtons. Shortly after he joined the more famous band, The Baronets, led by the Danish musician Lasse Helner. The Baronets were soon numbered among Denmark’s finest bands and they performed in virtually every kind of venue. The band became very popular, and even had the honor of warming up for big international names such as The Bee Gees, The Kinks, Procol Harum and The Who. In 1972 Frank replaced Allan Mortensen, who was then the lead singer in ‘Midnight Sun’ and they released the albums ‘Walking Circles’ and ‘Midnight Dream’. He also spent a couple of decades involved in band projects such as ‘Yesterdays’ and ‘The Franks’. Frank started a family relatively late and had two children, so he took jobs as a music instructor at various education institutions. Things went well until 2002, when illness and divorce took him away from the spotlight for several years. But in 2013 Frank was ready to play again. Frank got signed by Danish label Giant Sheep Music, and in 2014 his solo debut album 'How It Feels To Be Frank' was released. Sadly, Frank passed away far too early on november 8, 2016.
