American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter, born April 30, 1917 in New Orleans, Louisiana; died May 10, 1970 in Dallas, Texas. He was a prominent member of the "Texas country blues movement" of the 1940s and 1950s. Nephew of Texas Alexander, cousin of Lightnin' Hopkins.
