Danish rock guitarist, jazz saxophonist, primarily known as the lead guitarist of Gasolin', b. 1942. Started playing saxophone aged 12 and by the mid 60's he was member of the avantgarde jazz group The Contemporary Jazz Quartet. In 1969 he co-founded Gasolin' and with his distinctive Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitar sound was a main contributor to the the bands popularity. Disagreements over musical directions primarily between him and lead singer Kim Larsen caused Gasolin' to disband in the late 70's after reaching a status as the most popular danish rockband of the century. Post Gasolin' Beckerlee has been in Christianshavns Bluesband supporting Lone Kellermann, [Wild Honey (3)] as well as recording solo and writing.
