German music manager, born 1948. He was orchestra director of the Münchner Philharmoniker, then since 1983 artistic director of the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, since 1999 executive and artistic director of the Carnegie Hall in New York for three years, then in the same position for the Berliner Philharmoniker.
